League News

**Message from Acting Commissioner Luis Guzman**

I would like to express my gratitude to board member Manny Rios for his outstanding efforts on the display boards. Notably, Manny has reconditioned several of the scoreboards. Additionally, the Club has acquired three new whiteboards, which have been successfully adapted for field use. Manny has also been on top of the equipment to ensure we have what we need to continue playing.

Friday 12 September

Today's game was probably the closest game so far this summer. At the end of the sixth inning it was Team Hill 16, Team Spitalari 14, and Team Pepin 12. How each team arrived to that point was completely different. Team Pepin scored first and scored in every inning, Team Hill, on the other hand, scored 3 or more runs in four of the six innings. Team Spitalari scored multiple runs in three of the six innings, putting up 8 in the sixth alone.  So it was anyone's game going into the last inning.. Team Pepin started the inning strong with three of their first four batters scoring. While they did score three runs to temporarily take second place it was  not enough to catch Team Hill. Team Hill put up six more runs as the first five batters scored to increase their lead. Team Spitalari managed to regain second by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh but it was not enough to overtake Team Hill. Final score Hill 22, Spitalari 17, and Team Pepin 15.
Outstanding performances
Hector Nestor 4-4
Juan Toro 4-4 w/double,triple, and homer
Ron Pepin 4-4
Bob Reagen 4-4
Steve Hill 4-4
Herbie Muniz 4-4w/triple

Tuesday Games 9 September

Before getting into the results of today's games, I want to remind everyone that if you haven't signed up and paid your money for the upcoming season, please do so. It is just $50 for the entire season of fun!!!!

Today's managers were Steve Hill, Ron Pepin, Robert Spitalari, and JD Davis. Thanks for stepping up.

Team Hill faced off against Team Pepin in nine inning game of Field A. It is beginning to seem like Groundhogs Day as Team Hill scored multiple runs in the first inning again. They followed those with five more in the second and never looked back. They scored in six of the eight innings they came up to bat. Ron's team did make a run at Steve in the third as they scored five runs to narrow the gap to three runs. While each team continued to score, the margin did not change and Team Hill walked away with a 15 to 12 victory.

Outstanding Performances
Gil 5-5
Pete Gutenberger 5-5
Rusty 4-5
Mike R 4-5
Rad 5-5 w/2doubles
B Testa 4-5

An interesting game was played on Field B asTeam Davis started strong, matching Team Spitalari's 4 runs in the first inning and never took their foot off the gas pedal. They scored 4,4,5,3,5,and 3 in the six innings they came to the plate and it looked like there was no hope for Team Spit, despite scoring five in the third and four in the fourth. Then low and behold in the sixth inning, their bats came alive and they scored eight runs to tie up the game. Unfortunately, Team Davis responded with a three run home run by Juan Toro to go ahead by three. Since Team Spit was unable to score in the seventh, the game ended with Team Davis taking the win 24-21.

outstanding performances

B Zelazny 4-5 w triple and double
J Rabideau 4-4

Friday 5 September Game

Today's managers were JD Davis. Mark Tutrani, and Robert Spitalari.
JD's team started strong with four runs in the first inning. They followed that up with five in the second and it looked like it was going to be a blowout. Robert's team meanwhile quietly put up eleven runs to take a one run lead. In the fourth inning Mark's team started to put some runs on the board and scored 16 runs in the next four innings. At the  end of six, the score was Team Spit 16, Team Tutrani 16, and Team Davis 12. So it was anyone's game. Unfortunately there was no change in the order of finish as Team Davis scored but one run and Team Tutrani was shut out when the rally was snuffed out by a great play by JuanToro. That only left Team Spit to either win or share the gold medal.. With two out, they managed to push across the winning run. Final score Spitalari 17, Tutrani 16, and Davis 12.

Team Marino took on Team Toro in a seven inning game on Field A. Team Marino built a ten run lead through the second inning as they scored five in each and held Juan's Team scoeless.. Team Toro scored six in the third to close the gap. Both teams managed to score a couple runs in the fourth and fifth leaving Team Marino with a four run lead. With neither team managing to score in the final two innings, you could hear "TAKE THAT SUCKER" as Richie notched his first managerial victory 13- 9.

Team Hill and Team Rounds played nine inning game on Field B. The game was never in doubt as Team Hill scored five runs in the first and put up multiple runs in six of the eight innings. The only bright spot for Team Rounds was the sixth, as they scored eight runs. I dont know if it was great defense or quiet bats, but Team Rounds were shut out in six of the innings. The final score wa Team Hill 19 and Team Rounds 12.
