It was a tight battle from start to finish between Team Rounds, Team Spit, and Team Ayers Field. All three squads came out swinging, and the scoreboard never stopped moving.
1st Inning
- Team Rounds opened strong, plating 2 runs and then holding Team Spit scoreless in the bottom half.
- Team Ayers answered loudly, putting up 5 runs right out of the gate.
2nd Inning
A defensive tone settled in.
- Rounds and Ayers scratched across 1 run each, while Spit remained quiet.
3rd Inning
- Team Rounds woke up and pushed 4 runs across the plate.
- Team Spit and Team Ayers each added 2 runs.
4th Inning
Rounds’ bottom of the lineup came through big:
- Pat L and Gil started the inning with base hits and scored.
- Carlos, Pablo, and Ramon followed with base hits of their own.
- Gil capped the rally with a double to the outfield.
For Team Spit, JR and Cruz crossed the plate after DeLong blasted a double.
Team Ayers wasn’t done either:
- Dampier and Constantine opened with back‑to‑back doubles.
- Herbie, Vandenberg, and Fleming followed with base hits, all scoring to total 5 more runs.
6th Inning
Defense tightened again:
- Rounds and Spit were held scoreless.
- Ayers added 3 more runs, powered by a blast from Doyle and base hits from Williamson, Hopwood, Constantine, and Herbie.
At the end of six:
Rounds 17 – Spit 8 – Ayers 22
Ayers simply needed one solid defensive inning to lock it up… but senior softball never reads the script.
7th Inning – The Chaos
- Team Rounds fought back hard, scoring 5 runs to tie the game.
- Team Spit absolutely erupted, putting up 9 runs in the final inning for a huge comeback and a respectable finish.
Ayers needed just one run to win it. Instead:
three up, three down — and the game ended in a 22–17–22 tie.
