Friday 22 November

Despite the weather this morning we were able to put together three pretty competitive teams. Team Wally's bats were as cold as the temperature outside, managing to only score eight runs in the game. They did manage to put together a solid rally in the third when they scored five runs. Al Andres was the leading hitter, going 3 for 3.
Team Spitilari jumped out to an early lead with five runs in the first and held on to it until the fourth. Almost everyone got at least two hits to spur the run output. The leading hitter however, was Bill Rutan who went 3 for 3.
Team Hill put on an awesome display, scoring in every inning. Obviously everyone contributed to the run total, but Alf Gibbons, Steve Hill, Bobby Vandenberg, and Arvil Waddell set the pace by going 3 for 3.
In the end the final score was Team Hill 24, Team Spitilari 19, and Team Wally 8. The winning pitcher was Arvil Waddell.

Correction

Overfeeding should have read new players

Fw: Tuesday 19 Nov

We broke through today with four National league teams and two in American league. It's great to see old friends returning and the influx of so many overfeeding.

Unfortunately, I only have the recap of one game. In that one, team Spitilari came out victorious with Larry Wells getting the win and Ron Thompson picking up the save.

Games are on for this Friday. Thanksgiving week is a different story. The fields will be closed Thanksgiving week overseeding.

You are reminded to call  or be signed in by 08:30 so the we can put teams together. Please indicate League and position

See y'all Friday

Donnie Witmer

Donnie continues to improve. So much so that he has been released and transferred to Encompass Health at 1201 Oakbridge Pkwy. Donnie and Bonnie appreciate everyone that stopped by the hospital and signed the card. Hopefully it won't be too long before we get our leader back.

Tuesday 15 November Games

It was a little iffy today if we were even going to play, we had a little rain and significant winds. As it turned out there was nothing to worry about. The weather at game time was spectacular. We had the Bob Challenge today with Bobby Vandenberg, Bobby Spitalari, and Bob Zelazny managing teams

Team Zelazny took a four run lead going into the second inning but only managed one run the rest of the way, coming in a distant third.  If I was in the booth, I would say the bats were cold. No one batted a 1000%.

Team Spitalari was silent for the first two innings and then broke through scoring 14 runs in the next six innings They were leading after their at bats in the 7th. Key hitters for Bob's team included Freddie Dampier and Bill Rutan, both going 3 for 3..

Team Vandenberg came out on top, scoring three runs in the seventh to take the lead and the game. Key hitters included Doug McKinney and Alf Gibbons going 4 for 4, and Jeff Robineau going 3 for 3.

Final score was Team Zelazny 6, Team Spitalari 14, Team Vandenberg 16. The winning pitcher was Bob Vandenberg

Brief update on  a couple of our players:
Donnie continues to improve and they plan on transferring him to a rehab center in Lakeland today or tomorrow.
Henry Riverio remains in Winter Haven Hospital room 150.There has been some improvement but it appears he has a long way to go.
Ernesto Cruz who received an ankle injury Tuesday is at home and on the mend. The doctor determined it was not a torn achilles tendon.

Friday 15 November

Games are on. American League on field and National league on field b.
There will be a separate sign in sheet for each league. Please sign up for the one you will be playing in and for the position.
