Thanksgiving Message

As we approach Thanksgiving, we are reminded of how blessed we truly are to be able to play the great game of softball. The friendly competition keeps us going year-round and brings us together as a community.

Please remember those who may not have much during this season and could use our prayers, support, and kindness.

We will be playing on Friday, so don’t stuff yourself toomuch—but definitely enjoy your time with family and friends.

God bless,

Lou Guzman, AC

Steve Hill managed the hitting team, Don Keller managed the sitting team, and Wally led the fielding team.Team Keller jumped out to a quick lead after the first inning and looked strong thru three. The fourth saw Team Hill and Team put up big numbers which resulted in a 11-10-10 score. Both the hitting team and fielding continued to put up big numbers as team Keller fell back. Team Keller won the sixth inning and so going into the seventh Team Hill had 14, Team Keller 15, and Team Wally 18. In the seventh Team Hill's scored five runs to reach 19 to take the lead. Team Keller secured last place by only managing one run. It was then up to Team Wally as they needed one run to tie and two to win. Without dragging it out, they did that just. They put up two runs to claim the victory. Final score Team Hill 19, Team Keller 16, and Team Wally 20.

Friday 14 November Games

Team DeLoach and Team Tutrani faced off on field C. Both teams scored two runs in the first and remained tired after the third. Team Tutrani built a five run lead over the next three innings but it would not hold up.They were outscored in the next two innings, knotting the score at 14 apiece. Jim Williamson  led off and scored for team Deloach in the ninth, but that was it, as they were unable to put anymore runs on the board. So trailing by one, Team Tutrani stepped up to the challenge and scored two quick runs as the first four batters all got hits. Final score Team Tutrani 16 and Team DeLoach 15.

Team Hill met Team JD on field B. It was an interesting game to say the least. Team Hill started out as gangbusters building a ten run lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Players were already talking about a flip flop and going home early. Then Team JD came up to bat and scored ten runs to tie up the game. I think that inning broke Team Hill's spirits as they were outscored in the seventh and eighth and found themselves chasing seven going ino the last frame. It was over before it began as they went three and out. Fianl score Team JD 25 and Team Hill.18.

Solivita Game Recap – Thursday, November 6, 2025

The WHSSC Travel Team made its way to Solivita for a two-game matchup against their squad.

Game One:
This one was a nail-biter! The score was tied 7–7 at the top of the fourth inning before Solivita broke it open with a five-run rally. We answered right back with five runs of our own in the fifth, keeping things close. By the top of the seventh, the score stood at 13–17 in favor of Solivita. Despite a late push, we came up just short, with Solivita taking the win 17–15.

Game Two:
Game two followed a similar script — back and forth all the way. The score was tied 11–11 at the top of the sixth when Solivita plated four runs. We responded with five of our own, and after a thrilling play at home plate to end the game, WHSSC came out victorious, 16–15!

Fun was had by all, and we look forward to our rematch with Solivita in two weeks!

Friday 7 November

Wally and Steve managed the teams on field C. The game started out pretty well with both teams scoring multiple runs in the first. Team Hill actually won the inning by a single run. However, that slim lead grew as each of the next seven innings played out. At the end of seven innings Team Hill commanded a ten run lead. Team Wally tried to make a game of it by scoring six runs in the eighth. Unfortunately for them, they couldn't match that in the ninth and  went three and out. Final score Team Hill 21 andTeam Wally 16.
Outstanding Performances
Nestor 4-5
Vanderhyde 4-5
Spitalari 5-5
JD 3-4 w/2 doubles
Rounds 5-5 w/triple
Ernesto 4-5
Shaffer 4-5
DeRidder 4-5

Sammy Lopez and his team took on Mark Tutrani's team on field B. With the score tied after the first inning, it stayed relatively close with only a couple runs separating the two teams and Team Tutrani ahead by five. Team Lopez scored three in the seventh to narrow the gap to just two runs. This was when things got interesting. There were four lead changes in the last three innings and it came down to Team Tutrani needing four runs to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth. The first two batters scored and  things were looking up. Two of the next three hitters reached base but were unable to score, giving Team Lopez a well earned 21 to 19 victory over team Tutrani.

John Truchetta 5-5
JR 4-5
Constantine 4-5

Tuesday Recap

There seemed to be some confusion about sign in and game times this morning, with some reporting early and others reporting in late. Remember, you must sign or call in before 09:00 and games will start at 09:30.

Augmented by a number of American  league players we managed to field four fully manned teams. Sam Lopez faced off against Dave Rounds in a very competitive game. According to the score sheets it ended in a 16 to 16 tie. Sammy's team started strong with 5 runs in the first and 4 in the second. Daves team matched them with 2 and 7. Over the next four innings the teams remained within two runs of each other and even changed leads a couple times. Going into the final frame, Team Rounds had a two run lead. Team Lopez pushed three runs across to take a one run lead going into the bottom of the seventh.  Willie Morton led off the inning for Team Rounsds and scored to tie the game. Here is where it gets strange. It looks like when he scored, the game was called when they thought they had secured the victory. Unfortunately, Team Lopez only reported two runs in the seventh, while the score sheet clearly shows three.. End result was a tie game 16-16.

Outstanding Performances
Bill Test 4-4
Denny Shaffer 4-4
Willie Morton 4-4
Tobias 3-3

Team Wally and Team Hill faced off in what ended up being the first flip flop game of the summer. Team Hill put up five runs in the first two innings and followed them up with multiple runs in the next two innings. In the same stretch, Wally managed a scant six runs. Both teams were shut out in the following two innings, so at the end of six, Team Hill maintained an eleven run lead Team Hill extended their lead by pushing across five runs in each of the following two innings Team Wally only managed 3 runs in those frames. With the score 27 to 9 at the end of the eighth, we implemented the flip flop seeing as the difference was more than ten runs. Team Wally failed to score n the ninth, ending the game with Team Hill ahead 27-9.

Outstanding Performances
Rusty 5-5
Ora 5-5 w?homer and 2 doubles
BJ 4-4
